There's insanity in the control room tonight

Have you ever wondered what someone who's hypocrisy and moralistic bile has bought them a fast pass ticket straight to Hell acts like when they're "off camera", so to speak, and the lie of their public persona gets tucked away in the anchorman desk for a few seconds? Well, if you have then here you go:

Of course, Lawrence O’Donnell is more than just a news anchor - he's also a Film/TV producer, writer and actor. As Salon pointed out several years ago, we're talking about a real playa here who hates his own TV show and only does it for the money and fame:

Salon: Do you try to import some of that moviemaking magic onto the set of your nightly show?
LOLO: The comparison is tragic for me. What I'd love to have is a crawl at the bottom of the screen, reading: "You are watching an unrehearsed first draft."
Both of those things are just horrendous notions to me: To put something onscreen unrehearsed is just madness. To expose a first draft to anyone's ears other than your own is indecent. And we combine those two sins against good writing every night, and throw it out there. And so every show we do offends my artistic sensibilities in some ways.
It's the cruelest deadline I've ever been exposed to. All writers are forced to live within deadlines, and deadlines determine how good they can be. If you have five weeks to write an episode of television or seven months to write a movie or several years to write a book, each of those things is going to be better than a live television show. Luckily, the audience is apparently understanding, and they forgive much.

Yes, the audience is understanding but it looks like LOLO's staff at the cable news outlet are not so forgiving. There was the obligatory "I'm sorry" tweet and many TV people brush it all under the rug as best they can but I'm absolutely positive* that this episode was NOT a one off. This thing was leaked because the monkeys in the control room got tired of this dudes bullshit and let him have it right where it hurts - his false, pride filled, duplicitous ego. And you can be sure there's a lot more video just like it waiting on the shelf. Waiting...

working in TV is so glamorous

* If you're wondering how it is that I'm so sure of myself you only need to look at the facial expressions and movements of LOLO's staff as they diligently do their work right through his meltdown as if nothing unusual is happening - just another day at The Newsroom. No big deal. This is just the way it is here at MSNBC and we've been living with this asshole acting like this for years. Go ahead and bitch Mr. Bigshot because we've all grown accustom to your hate and we just don't care anymore.
