MAUREEN DOWD finally exposed herself in this Sunday's column. Usually I don't read it but today I scanned it and found out that she is the embattled little sister in a family of "Buchananite Republicans". No wonder she's so whacked out! It all falls into place - little Maureen - no one pays attention to her - no one takes her seriously - she'll show them! - she'll get lots of attention by saying exactly the kinds of things they hate - She can't live up to their standards so she will reject their entire world view. George Bush is a surrogate for her brothers. She knows exactly what he's like - she's met hundreds of preppie Republicans just like him. She's still in high school and GWB is the rowdy jerk that she never got over. She'll just have to live with him for another 4 years.
She was "sexy", but "too much hard work." It was obvious that Steve and Brian did not, but they were stuck with her like so many talking heads and had to make the best of it - which they did. Besides, she was no worse than any of the other women on morning show TV - I mean, you're only going to find a certain kind of person to do this kind of work and that kind of person is the Gretchen Carlson kind. Then, one day, she was gone and replaced by Elisabeth Hasselbeck and the F&F ratings began to climb, and climb and climb - in two months view
